Election Information:
PRIMARY ELECTION
Voter Registration closes end of business day (7/14/26). Please contact the Barton County Clerk's office for any questions related to this.
Early voting is available through the Barton County Clerk's Office, this may begin (7/15/26). Early voting ends at noon on Monday(8/3/26) the day before the election.
Advance voting by mail is available by application through the Barton County Clerk's Office. Advance ballots begin being mailed out (7/15/26).
Advance Ballots must be returned to Barton County Clerk's office by 7pm on Election Day.
Or Your ballot may be returned to a polling location by 7pm on Election Day (8/4/26).
Or If returning by mail, “Under Kansas statute, the deadline to return your ballot is the close of the polls on Election Day. A district court judge in Douglas County has entered a temporary injunction altering that deadline. However, the Secretary of State, represented by the Attorney General, has filed a motion with the Kansas Appellate Courts to stay the decision so that the deadline remains the close of the polls on Election Day. Because of the legal uncertainty while the matter is pending on appeal, voters are urged to return their ballots by the close of the polls on Election Day. Doing so will ensure that their ballots will be counted.”

NOTICE OF POST-ELECTION AUDIT & CANVASS
Kansas election law requires a post-election audit be conducted after an election and prior to the meeting of the County Board of Canvassers. The county election officer is required to conduct a manual audit or tally of each vote cast in 1% of all precincts, with a minimum of one precinct. The precinct(s) shall be randomly selected and the selection shall take place after the election. For Barton County, we will audit no less than two races and two precincts for every primary and general election.
*The random drawing for the races/precincts to be audited will be at 3pm... Wednesday August 5th.
*The Audit time will be at 8:30am... Thursday August 6th.
*The Board of Canvasser's will meet @ 8:30am... Tuesday August 11th.
(These actions will take place in the County Clerk's Office 1400 Main,Ste202, Great Bend,KS 67530).
