Road Closings
Unfortunately the County must close roads or detour traffic while repairs and maintenance is ongoing. Road & Bridge Department will make every effort to post closings to accommodate traffic. Closings that are planned will be posted on this webpage. For information contact the Office at (620)793-1816.
Construction and Road Closing Information:
We will be overlaying on SW 50 AVE all the way to the Stafford County line. We will start on the west end of SW 70 RD and SW 60 AVE at the county line and work our way around the curve to the north on SW 50 AVE. We will continue North to SW 50 RD and SW 50 AVE. We will then head east on SW 50 RD to SW 40 AVE. Once that is completed will will then go back to SW 50 AVE and head north to SW 30 RD. We plan on beginning this work on July 7, 2025. Vehicles must plan accordingly while this work is being completed due to the river there are very few ways to get around the work area. While work is being completed there may be an asphalt ridge on the road causing road closures. While the road is closed crews may be hauling in asphalt, grader blading asphalt, or steel drum rolling the asphalt that has been put down. Once, work is completed in that specific area this website will be updated. We are sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding while we get this road work completed.
Starting on July 14, 2025, we will begin overlaying from US HWY 56 heading south down SE 60 AVE. We will first work on the approaches to the river bridge between East Barton County Road and SE 10 RD. We will haul in asphalt and once the asphalt is hauled in plan on first laying from US HWY 56 going south the Stone Sand entrance. Then the next day lay from the Stone Sand entrance going south to SE 20 RD. Vehicles must plan accordingly while this work is being completed on this stretch due to the river there are very few ways to get around the work area. We will then head west on SE 20 RD to SE 30 AVE. Once that is complete we will return back to SE 60 AVE and SE 20 RD continuing south to SE 50 RD. After that is completed we will then head west on SE 50 RD to US HWY 281.
