Evidence/Personal Property Release
Evidence Release is Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 11 AM and 1 PM to 4 PM.
Evidence Release must be set up with the Evidence Custodian. Walk-in Release is not accepted. You must have a court order or journal entry authorizing the release of evidence. Personal Property is evaluated on a case-by-case basis. If you do not have a court order or journal entry, the Evidence Custodian will verify authorization through the County Attorney's Office.
For the release of any firearm, the Evidence Custodian will release it only to the owner or other person authorized by the owner or District Court Judge. The owner must be present with valid identification and pass a NICS background check to receive the firearm(s). The Sheriff's Office DOES NOT return ammunition.
No Evidence/Property that is illegal (Drugs, Paraphernalia, Illegal Weapons, etc.) is released. This evidence/property is destroyed by the Sheriff's Office.
