The U.S. Department of Energy's Loan Program Office (DOE LPO) is pleased to announce the release of a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for Phase 1 of the Grain Belt Express Transmission Project (Project), DOE/EIS-0554. In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the DEIS considers the environmental impacts associated with providing federal financial assistance to support the development, construction, and operation of the Project. The DOE LPO invites the public to review and comment on the DEIS through one of the opportunities below.
Public meetings to gather feedback about the DEIS will be held both in-person and virtually. DOE LPO and Grain Belt Express Project representatives will be available at all meetings to answer questions and provide information about the DEIS.

This project has no relationship to the Department of Energy's National Interest Electric Transmission Corridor (NIETC) program, and a federal corridor designation is no longer being considered in Kansas or Missouri.
