Following this sample checklist, and carefully reading the documents, may help reduce the chance your document will not be promptly recorded:
1. Make sure you submit the original
2. Provide the required filing fees
3. Review the document to check for any errors
a. Include complete legal description
b. Check the names of the signers for spelling
4. Make sure the acknowledgement is correct
5. Complete the sales validation questionnaire or note on the document the exception claimed if the document conveys title to real estate.
6. Type document legibly with type size being 10 point or larger
7. Properly title, date and execute document
8. Type or print names and titles beneath all signatures
9. Properly reference any previously recorded document with book and page numbers
10. Identify exhibits/attachments
We cannot assume last names, therefore it is imperative to use both first and last name of all parties. i.e.: John Smith and Mary Smith NOT John and Mary Smith

In part states, " If sufficient space is not provided for the necessary recording information and certification on a document, such recording information shall be placed on an added sheet and such sheet shall be counted as a page. The document shall be of sufficient legibility so as to produce a clear and legible reproduction thereof. If a document is judged not to be of sufficient legibility so as to produce a clear and legible reproduction, such document shall be accompanied by an exact copy thereof which shall be of sufficient legibility so as to produce a clear and legible reproduction thereof and which shall be recorded contemporaneously with the document and shall be counted as additional pages. The register of deeds may reject any document which is not of sufficient legibility so as to produce a clear and legible reproduction thereof. ..."
